Setec Offshore wind is staffed, with the help of setec group geotechnical and civil engineering experts, to manage port projects including the design and the site supervision of the reinforcement of existing infrastructures or the construction of new infrastructures. For the dredging works, we design the works sequence from dredging operation on seabed, temporary storing, and optimizing the re-use of the dredged materials, mainly on site if possible, or in specific waste disposals. In parallel, we assess the environmental impacts of those works and prepare some compensation measures, to get the environmental authorization to begin works as early as possible.
In Setec Offshore Wind, we think that a restricted surface in some ports, used for the manufacturing in series of big and numerous WTG, can limit their attractivity to energy developers. Furthermore, the high CAPEX of adapted infrastructure works can be a brake on competition in this new market.
So, we have developed FLOATPORT(c) an innovative solution to create floating yards in prestressed concrete caissons, joined such as forming different shapes, to be used as different kind of platforms as assembly line of WTG, storage areas or wet storage.
The caissons can be easily disconnected to create other configurations/shapes for other uses (e.g. an assembly line platform can be transformed into several wet storage if necessary). The FLOATPORT can also be towed from one harbour to another one.
